Our emotions can be easily affected by the things that occur around us everyday. These things may either be in or out of our control; especially so for the latter if it involves interactions with others. For example, as a teacher, it is almost impossible for me to accurately predict my students’ condition since it differs daily. When the students’ condition is good, they bring me joy and laughter, otherwise, they frustrate me. It would be emotionally draining for us if our emotions are dependent on unpredictable external factors. I treasure that my joy and strength are based on God and His unchanging promises. Knowing that He is with me and will cause all things to work together for my good, I can smile from my heart without any fears or worries. Despite all the unforeseeable circumstances ahead, I can smile as I know that God is in full control. Loving me with the highest love, He will definitely take great care of me.
Now, I know the secret to smile amidst challenges. This is a hymn I wrote after meditating on what I enjoyed from a worship with my brothers and sisters in Christ:
You put a smile on my face
Your presence with me
Puts a smile on my face all the time
No one can take this away
Thru’ ups, thru’ downs, all through my life
You are closely with me
When I think of the path ahead
I can say “it will be the best!”
