Household of God in Singapore

Ethan Leow

I grew up in a family that did not believe in God. When I was younger, I questioned the purpose of my existence and the meaning of life: “are we born in this world just to work, suffer and inevitably die?”. Questions like this affected me for a long time.

5 years ago, I followed my father to join a weekly Bible study fellowship. We learnt about God, the Gospel and many truths in the Bible. Through this time God began to soften my heart and open my spiritual eyes to the truths.

I discovered the essence of life as spoken by Jesus in John 17:3: “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” Moreover, I learnt about the fulfilled prophecies, such as the coming of Jesus Christ, His resurrection, and how the unfolding of world events aligns with the prophecies in the book of Revelation in the Bible. These prophecies and the testimonies of various brothers and sisters led me to believe in God.

Even after I believed in God, I did not know Him well. However, as I grew in Christ, I understood more and more about the love that God has for me. A love so deep, that He sent His only begotten Son to die for my sins, even when I did not know Him. I began to have a true understanding of what the gospel is. This grace, which He has freely given to me, melted my heart and compelled me to grow in Christ and know God more.

Though I have many flaws, I thank God that daily He is moulding me to be more like Christ, that I may be a citizen worthy of God’s Kingdom. His mercies are indeed new every day. Even though I don’t know what tomorrow will bring or what will happen to me, I can live by faith, knowing He is with me always and that “He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6).
